Ty Purler
Ty Purler is the founder and head Jiu Jitsu coach at Purler Combat Academy, where he leads the Adult Fundamentals, Adult Intermediate, Kids Jiu Jitsu, and Little Lions programs. He also leads the Purler Wrestling Girls Program.
Ty is a Jiu Jitsu purple belt, current competitor, and lifelong wrestler. He brings a structured, hands-on approach to every class, helping students build real skill through systems, repetition, and clear coaching.
As a wrestler, Ty was a Class 4 Missouri State Medalist, 4x Class 4 State Qualifier, High School National Runner-Up, and was ranked Top 20 in the nation during his high school career.
Ty has helped hundreds of athletes, from complete beginners to experienced grapplers, improve their technique, confidence, and overall understanding of grappling.
His coaching blends wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, and practical grappling experience, making him a trusted instructor for kids, adults, beginners, and competitors.
Nick Purler
Nick Purler is the founder and head coach of Purler Wrestling Academy, one of the most successful and respected wrestling programs in the country. With a lifelong career in wrestling as both an elite competitor and a championship-level coach, Nick brings a systemized, results-driven program of drilling, technique mastery, and strategic development continues to shape some of the top wrestlers in the country.
Nick wrestled for Oklahoma State University, where he was a 1994 NCAA All-American, Big 12 Champion, and a member of three Division I National Championship teams. He was also part of the 1994 Dual Team National Champions, and his impressive win percentage placed him on OSU’s All-Time Top 20 list for over a decade. Nick is also a University Nationals finalist, Espoir National finalist, U.S. Open Freestyle All-American, 1993 Olympic Sports Festival Champion, and a member of the 1994 All-Star Team.
In high school, Nick was a 3-time Missouri State Champion, losing only two matches in his entire prep career. He was a 2-time Junior National Champion, ranked #1 in the nation upon graduation, and selected as a 1988 Asics Dream Team member. He also earned the title of Outstanding Wrestler at the Dapper Dan Dream Team Classic and took home Cadet Pan American Games bronze honors.
Nick is a member of the Missouri Wrestling Association Hall of Fame and the Missouri Wrestling Hall of Fame, recognized for his lifetime contributions to the sport.
